How Livvy Found Her Forever Home—and Her Purpose
This post was written by Chloe Barnes, Livvy’s adopter from the UK
When we first brought Livvy home from the rescue shelter in Dali, we knew she was special. We already had two other rescue dogs, each with their own quirks and charm, but there was something different about her. What we didn’t realise at the time was just how much she would change our lives—especially the life of our son.
In August, Livvy will have been with us for four years. In that time, I’ve often found myself reflecting on the journey we’ve all taken together. People talk about the joy of rescuing dogs, the sense of giving them a second chance.
Our son is autistic. Every day presents unique challenges for him. And yet, through it all, Livvy has been by his side. Not just as a pet, but as his constant support. His best friend.
From the very beginning, there was a quiet understanding between them. No training could have taught Livvy the patience she has, the way she instinctively knows when to nuzzle in closer or simply lie nearby in silent companionship.
It’s remarkable to think that Livvy came from a life of uncertainty. Abandoned or forgotten, like so many rescue dogs, she once had no one. But today, she is the one who gives her love to our family every single day. She offers comfort without condition. Loyalty without limits. And in return, she has found a purpose, a family, and a boy who loves her with all his heart!
Watching them together still takes my breath away.
